From down the end of Los Angeles, the barebones gravepunk duo Band Aparte strips down and combines elements of gothic rock, synthpunk, and beachy lo-fi as macabre appreciation simmers in the gut of the city. Vocalist Brian Mendoza effortlessly channels Joy Division and Nick Cave, crooning into a death bouquet with his shirt unbuttoned. But he’s not doing it to imitate Morrissey’s aesthetic —  Band Aparte’s shows are fast and fierce, and the crowd works up a sweat at every venue they play.

It’s a dangerous mixture that has crushed nights alongside such bands as Cruelty Code, Roses, Ghost Noise, and Terminal A.
Stream the band’s debut album ‘Memory On Trial’ in its entirety a day early over at Impose Magazine and on SoundCloud.

A Shoreline Dream set to release ‘Whirlwind’ single

0006658588_100

‘Whirlwind’ is the third single from the ever-evolving new record by A Shoreline Dream, which is being released song by song before its completion. This new track dives into the harsh reality of the constant changes occurring around us and the fact that everything continues to speed forward throughout our short lives.

Originating in Barnum, Colorado, A Shoreline Dream is Ryan Policky(vocalist/guitarist/producer) and Erik Jeffries (guitar). Together, the two crafted this latest ‘Whirlwind’.

With the recent death of singer Ryan Policky’s father, and a murder occuring right next door to where A Shoreline Dream writes, practices and records, the motivation to finish and release this track was high on the band’s to-do list for the summer. Riding a fine line between alternative rock, goth and post-punk and with a bass heavy overtone, the song dips and dives into layers of guitars and vocal chants, heavily influenced by the changing of seasons, and the speed of life for this band now celebrating its 10th year of music experimentation.
As autumn comes and the release of ‘Whirlwind’ hits, new music will be developed that brings in the next wave of what’s to soon become A Shoreline Dream’s first vinyl album.

Crystal Soda Cream Releases Work & Velocity

51a970c4-9817-469d-92d0-7324c581006b

“Welcome welcome, take a dive.” On their by now 4th release CRYSTAL SODA CREAM yet again prove to know how to pull out all the stops: shimmering cold & toxic, passionate & sharp tongued, claustrophobic & elegantly wasted with usual aplomb.

This time in addition: bilingual – english & german! By revealing “Work & Velocity” this Vienna threesome – Theresa Adamski (dr, keys, voc), Philipp Forthuber (voc, guit) and Sebastian Ploier (bass) – bears a distinct breed of post punk, that is not just a zealous reflection of the cold, old days in a cloudy mirror, much rather CSC manage to forge a bridge between a thoroughly thought through reminiscence of stylistic device and the framing of a paramountly contemporary statement. So why mention Rowland S. Howard, Geisterfahrer or Au Pairs?

His oeuvre expertly recounts and expands upon the work of John Carpenter (Halloween), Vangelis (Blade Runner) and Goblin (Suspiria) evoking nocturnal visions of neon-glyphed cyberpunk desperation.

Calling All Astronauts new album “Anti-Social Network” released 11th March 2016

Supersonic Media are proud to present “Anti-Social Network” the eagerly awaited second album from London based Alt Rock three-piece Calling All Astronauts. Containing their hit single “Empire” (which is currently #3 in the Official European Indie Chart after it hit #1 on the Hypem Chart on the day of its November release), “Anti-Social Network” is the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut “Post Modern Conspiracy”. It is the result of 20 months of insane creativity that saw the guys locked in their studio for days on end as they wrote, engineered and produced an album that stretched their creativity like never before.

The thought that they mash together Rock, Electro, Goth, DnB, Punk and EDM into a unique genre that is remotely listenable seems somewhat preposterous until you listen to “Anti-Social Network”. They have in no way tried to hide their love for classic Alternative Rock, instead they have brought it firmly into the 21st Century. Known for not being ones to mince their words, Calling All Astronauts once again dig deep into the fabric of society. There are no elephants in their room as they take on controversial matters including; youth knife crime in “Hands Up Who Wants To Die”, the war for oil in “Divisive”, social inequalities in “Time To Fight Back” and the disposable consumer driven society in “God Is Dead”. Yet they still manage to explore their softer side in “Empire”, “Life As We Know It” and “Always Be True”.

A Shoreline Dream to Release ‘Revolvist’ Single

Ryan_Policky_Dreamsong

Revelations into the upcoming album continue to resonate from US based progressive shoegazers A Shoreline Dream with the latest single/video titled “Revolvist”. Inspired by sounds of music past while longing for something to trudge through the snowy months with, the song itself is a bass-driven, goth influenced dance number from vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Ryan Policky.

During a month-long stint locked away for the early winter, “Revolvist” made it’s way from this half coherant dream, into a full-on explosion of sound ready to be leaked out to fans ‘in real time’, as the album remains in the works. “Revolvist” is the second single to be revealed from the forthcoming LP, following up “Time Is A Machine Gun”, a track that Stereo Embers Magazine ranked at as #8 best track of 2015.

DMN’s “Blackwing” descends March 18

2705c592-8e8f-4ab8-bfc5-45426edc2bee

Seattle’s mood-masters Dark Matter Noise was created out of Goth-punk band leader Al Tompkins’ desire to experience evolutionary and sustaining. He had never experimented full on with an electronic sound, and it was time for changing up his total approach from his years in the Pac NW underground music milieu.

“Dark Matter accounts for most of the matter in the universal,” Tompkins explains the band’s name. “The theory that it has mass of some sort, you could conjecture the possibility of mass that could vibrate with sound. Of course there is no sound in space, so there is an oxymoron in the name. The other point of interest is pronouncing the acronym: Demon.”

DMN’s new album Blackwing finds Tompkins playing and producing all of the instruments on the record, except drums from Eric Peterson (Electric Hellfire Club) on the lynchpin track “Open Wide,”  and the contribution of the song “End of Line” by Vladimir Potrosky. Renowned local performer Charlie Drown uses her own astonishing voice and lyrics on “Open Wide” as well as “Hell’s Frozen.” Drown, who is quite notable in the fact that she has produced hundreds of her own industrial/metal songs, and is well known in the Seattle goth/industrial scene, has headlined Hemp Fest. Also, one of Tompkins’ oldest friends is Tad Doyle (TAD, Sub Pop), who mastered the album (Al played a stint in his new band Brothers of the Sonic Cloth).
