Gothic Tropic shares new track “How Life Works,” announces upcoming album ‘Fast or Feast’ via Interview Mag

Los Angeles’ Gothic Tropic introduces a new brand of female fronted, guitar-driven indie rock. Yesterday on Interview Magazine, Gothic Tropic shared their new track “How Life Works” and announced their upcoming album.  Check out the featurehere on Interview Magazine.

Interview Magazine: How did you come up with Fast or Feast, the title of the album?Gothic Tropic: There’s always a duality lurking above anything I do. I feel like some of the songs are very generous and loving and some of them are angry and depressing. Also, some of the shit I’ve been through… Fast or Feast is when it’s good, it’s really good, and when it’s bad, it fucking sucks. That kind of sums up last year and this year.

Methyl Ethel Releases Video for “Twilight Driving,” ‘Oh Inhuman Spectacle’ Out Now on 4AD

Today, Methyl Ethel have released the official music video for their single “Twilight Driving” in celebration of the global release of their debut album Oh Inhuman Spectacle.
Hailing from the remote fringes of Perth, Western Australia, linchpin Jake Webb started Methyl Ethel in 2013 as a way of getting his bedroom recordings out in the public domain. Like 4AD peers Grimes and Bradford Cox (Deerhunter, Atlas Sound), Oh Inhuman Spectacle was crafted in isolation where Webb wrote, played and recorded everything, with fellow Perth residents Thom Stewart (bass) and Chris Wright (drums) recruited to bring the songs to life on stage.

Interview Magazine recently caught up with the band to discuss their album, influences, touring and more. You can read the full interview right here.
Methyl Ethel are currently playing a run of dates and festivals across the UK and Europe. The band will make their way back to the US in August to play Outside Lands in San Francisco and The Underground Music Showcase in Denver. A full rundown of dates can be found below.

LISTEN: Louise Burns “Pharaoh”

Vancouver’s Louise Burns just released her new 7″ featuring the hauntingly beautiful single “Pharaoh.”  Produced by Burns and Colin Stewart (Dan Managan, Black Mountain) and mixed by Damian Taylor (Arcade Fire, Austra, Bjork), the song showcases Burns’s singular vocals and intricate songwriting, drawing upon influences ranging from Nick Cave, Kate Bush, The Cure, The Pretenders, to Aaliyah and other well-deserving divas.

Already a 20-year vet of the music industry and she’s barely 30 years old. She witnessed the heady last gasp of the majors in the late-’90s (Burns co-founded pop band Lillix at 11 and signed to Madonna’s Maverick Records at 15), and was front and centre for Canada’s indie renaissance. Now Burns is an in-demand collaborator (Gold & Youth), high-profile hired gun, an acclaimed solo musician (2011’s Mellow Drama, long listed for the Polaris Music Prize, and 2013’s Midnight Mass), and multi-instrumentalist whose celebrated songwriting is equal parts grit and gloss

Zane Lowe has exclusively premiered Prince Rama‘s jubilant new single “Your Life In The End” on Apple’s Beats 1!

“‘Your Life In The End’ is a triumphant ‘Rama-goes-gospel’ fist-pumping anthem, with sparkly church-rave pianos and tear-jerking melodies that would make Primal Scream fall to their knees. For the choral vocals, Prince Rama befriended members of the local Bed-Stuy Baptist church down the street from their apartment.”

Porches’ new LP Pool is out via Domino this Friday, February 5th, and is fast shaping up to be one of the most anticipated albums so far this year. Ahead of its release, the band have unveiled another song, titled ‘Car’, which was featured in the Sirius XMU Download 15 this past weekend and is now available to listen toHERE. Porches’ Aaron Maine tells us about the song, saying “‘Car’ is about leaving a place where you’re unhappy and the beauty of arriving somewhere where you feel good.  Whether you escape physically or mentally it’s just about using your facilities to take control of your situation. Positive mental attitude.”

The video for the single “Be Apart” was also recently released, and gained a Best New Track stamp of approval from Pitchfork who write: ‘”Be Apart” appears less about the ecstasy of the dance floor than a more particular kind of excitement – one that comes with embracing the fear of the first step towards it.”
