Stella Diana is back with a new single, called Dedu’n from their forthcoming‘Nitocris’ LP. The album will be released on April 29 through Italian label Vipchoyo Sound Factory.

In this track, Stella Diana offers a darker sound than usual. Italy’s Stella Diana Share ‘Sulphur’ Single

Alt Rock Shoegazers Stella Diana have announced that they will be releasing their ‘Nitocris’ LP through Italian label Vipchoyo Sound Factory. The first single is ‘Sulphur’, a dark and sad ballad like a numbing homeopathic remedy, but it is a beautiful slow-burner, beginning quite slowly and then seemingly exploding into infinite space.

This dreamy anthem is accompanied by a melancholic colour-tinted trip of a video, produced by Vipchoyo Sound Factory. The film scenes themselves emphasize the suspended notes, pulsating bass rythm and reverb-laden voice before penetrating gazey guitars suddenly pierce through the silence.

With much of the world blanketed in snow, now might be the perfect time to soak up a new release from Summer Heart, the solo project of Swedish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, David Alexander.  Best known for a nostalgic low-fi sound, David’s sun- bleached latest track The Forbidden is just the thing for those pesky winter blues.

In this song, Summer Heart brilliantly uses a mix of vocals, guitar, synths, bass and drum machines in the song to create his signature variety of hazy, dream pop.  With such an impressive blend of rhythms, tones and melodies, it’s hard to believe that there’s just one man behind the Summer Heart so artfully packaged sound.

Out Today: A Shoreline Dream ‘Revolvist’

Revelations into the upcoming album continue to resonate from US based progressive shoegazers A Shoreline Dream with the latest single/video titled “Revolvist”. Inspired by sounds of music past while longing for something to trudge through the snowy months with, the song itself is a bass-driven, goth influenced dance number from vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Ryan Policky.

During a month-long stint locked away for the early winter, “Revolvist” made it’s way from this half coherant dream, into a full-on explosion of sound ready to be leaked out to fans ‘in real time’, as the album remains in the works. “Revolvist” is the second single to be revealed from the forthcoming LP, following up “Time Is A Machine Gun”, a track that Stereo Embers Magazine ranked at as #8 best track of 2015.

BELIEFS Premiere new video Swooner via CLASH MUSIC

Last autumn Beliefs singer Jesse Crowe (also a professional hairdresser when not on stage with her guitar) wanted to shave her head. The only problem was she was playing in a Portishead tribute band on Halloween night and she had kept her hair styled like Beth Gibbons for months to look right for the part. So she waited eagerly til Halloween. The day after she got good friend Shehzaad Jiwani of Toronto band Greys to shave her head in the Unlovable Bar bathroom, music video director Ivy Lovell captured the process and turned it into Beliefs’ latest video for their album closer Swooner (Leaper).

New EP from Legendary Soul-Shoegazers The Veldt

Th Veldt - Chavis brothers2

Daniel and Danny Chavis are natives of Raleigh/ Chapel Hill, North Carolina and East Village residents for the past 28 years. They are also co-founders of the groundbreaking band The Veldt, who lifted their band’s name from a Ray Bradbury science fiction story. Musically reared in the church and juke-joints of their native southern state, the twins have been performing since they were children, listening to music that included gospel, Motown and Pink Floyd. In March, they, together with bassist/programmer Hayato Nakao, return to their roots with the release of The Shocking Fuzz of Your Electric Fur: The Drake Equation Mixtape EP.

The first single is the emotionally wrought Sanctified, a ballad that perfectly captures the lush sound of Danny’s screeching guitars and decibel-breaking distortion, along with Daniel’s soulful wail and Hayato Nakao’s deep bass grooves and guitar feedback, the track serves as the perfect re-introduction to this dynamic band. The title The Shocking Fuzz of Your Electric Fur was borrowed from an E.E. Cummings poem. Its raging sound was influenced equally by the emotional soul of Marvin Gaye, free jazz warriors Sun Ra and Pharaoh Sanders, various Drake hip-hop tracks, and their own fertile electric imagination.

FILM SCHOOL share “Give Up” from upcoming ‘June’ EP – Live in LA and SF

Today Film School release the second single “Give Up” from their upcoming June EP – the first recording in 10 years by the members known to fans as the “original Beggars lineup.”  FLOOD debuted the song calling it a “pulsating psych piece of equal parts beauty and despair.”

The album reflects a more mature Film School, whose members have gotten married, gotten divorced, bought houses, had kids, struggled with drug addiction, suffered a studio fire, lost jobs, started businesses, taken on daunting responsibilities. In other words, they’re confronting midlife: older and wiser but, ironically, perhaps also more vulnerable.
